  • April 21, 2004 - 10:42 am: all together now.

Everyone is FREAKING out now that Spring seems to have arrived. Granted, by "everyone" I mean "everyone I know in Seattle", but the Chicagoans are getting giddy as well. The ghetto bushes in front of my apartment are starting to green, and there's been a second Tiger sighting on our street, so Spring really is just around the corner. I've even been to a baseball game already, that's how close Spring is to arriving.

So, this weekend I had a raw oyster for the first time, went to a baseball game at Safeco field for the first time (and Seattle managed to win), watched an old bad movie with a bunch of people/newfriends and had a general excellent time. I also got a haircut and bought a cool green shirt. And a tee shirt. And some CDs. One of which, by the really great (and nice) band U.S.E. (United State of Electronica), you should BUY, because it will serve as the best soundtrack to your Summer, and will, by it's greatness, make your Summer kick ass. We went to a house party they played at over the weekend, and aside from my fear that we would all die in a fiery inferno, it was great. So get on that and check it out. The new Modest Mouse is really great as well.

Plans are coming together for the big 4th of July trip, I'm going to Seattle to hook up with the girl and a bunch of people, and then we all fly to California and take a big bus up to a cabin by the lake. This year I won't be stuck in Chicago either avoiding (or watching) fireworks and drinking in someone's backyard BBQ, I'll be floating on an inner tube on a lake, full of beer. Hopefully it'll be as odd and wonderful as wet hot american summer!
